- 💡 New: AI-assisted imaging
Next-generation SwiftMR (AIRS Medical) artificial intelligence (AI) technology supports imaging for faster, more precise and more comfortable scans.
Please be sure to read the "Important information" section on our website and the information below before registering for an MRI examination.
At our Törökbálint Health Center, we operate one of the world’s newest and fastest Fujifilm Aperto Lucent Plus Open MRI systems (0.4 Tesla).

Balance between diagnostic imaging and a calm environment – for your comfort
The newly introduced single-column open MRI system providing a 320-degree panoramic, all-around view offers a much calmer environment for patients struggling with a sense of confinement during the examination.
New! SynergyDrive system: improves the efficiency of the examination, fully automates, simplifies and speeds up the MRI examination process.
New! IP-RAPID system: high clarity, higher image resolution in a shorter scanning time.
New! Radar system: motion artefact suppression technique. Compensates for body movement due to breathing, swallowing or heartbeat.
On average, the examination time is 33% shorter compared to earlier open MRI devices.

What is important to know about MRI examinations carried out at our centre
- During a native examination, we do not use a contrast agent, and therefore no laboratory test is required.
- No contrast, anesthesia, or sedation is used during examinations.
- We do not conduct examinations under anesthesia or sedation.
- You can book an MRI examination either upon medical recommendation or on your own initiative. However, before the examinations it is recommended to undergo a specialist examination or consultation.
- It may be that an MRI examination does not need to be performed. It may also be that the body part or area (examination region) that should be examined is not the one the patient believes to be problematic. Our centre cannot be held responsible for any damage resulting from the patient's unprofessional instructions concerning the examination region if the patient requests the examination of a body part that does not correspond to the examination regions required to detect the changes that professionally explain the complaints! Accordingly, the form to be completed before the examination must be filled out by the patient in their own handwriting, where they must also specify and describe the area to be examined (and not the receptionists!).
MRI scans are not performed on patients under 14 years of age.
Individuals between 14 and 18 years of age (who have reached their 14th birthday but not yet their 18th) may undergo MRI examinations only with a written specialist referral or recommendation. We do not perform examinations at parental request or discretion.
- In case of pregnancy During the first trimester (the first 12 weeks) we do not perform MRI examinations at all. Thereafter (from the fourth month of pregnancy), a native MRI examination is performed only on the basis of a written specialist recommendation, which must include: the exact gestational age (how many weeks pregnant), which MRI examination is requested, a detailed and thorough professional justification for the examination, and the specialist's name, signature and stamp.
- In our centre we perform the following MRI examinations:
- Skull (brain)
- Cerebral vessels (additional examination to skull MRI)
- Inner ear (additional examination to skull MRI)
- facial skull (supplementary examination for skull MRI)
- spine
- Cervical spine
- Dorsal spine
- Lumbar spine
- Sacrum
- limb joints
- Shoulder joint
- Elbow joint
- Wrist joint
- Hip joint
- Knee joint
- Ankle joint
- The following MRI examinations are not performed at our center:
- Cervical soft tissue
- Larynx
- Throat
- Chest
- Heart
- lung
- Breast
- Abdomen
- pelvis
- Testicle
- prostate
- hand and foot
- hand and foot
- tailbone
- Full body
What applies to all MRI examinations:
- We do not perform TB (NEAK)-funded (free of charge) examinations; we cannot accept referrals.
- In our Health Centre we do not provide services to persons under 14 years of age (who have not yet reached their 14th year).
- In our Health Centre, for persons aged 14‑18 (who have completed their 14th year and not yet reached their 18th), we do not perform skull MRI examinations; other MRI examinations are carried out only on the basis of a written specialist referral or recommendation. Between 14 and 18 years the child is legally of limited capacity, regardless of their understanding, therefore we do not perform MRI examinations solely at the request of the parent, as prescribed by law.
- The fee for an MRI examination applies to a specific anatomical region (e.g., skull, cervical spine, lumbar spine, left knee, etc.), as indicated in the price list. If multiple anatomical regions are examined, the total fee is calculated as a multiple of the standard price per region. The spinal regions (cervical, thoracic, lumbar, sacral sections) and the limb joints (right and left sides; shoulder, elbow, wrist, knee, ankle, except the hip, which is bilateral) are considered separate anatomical regions.
- You will receive your MRI scan images by email no later than 8:00 a.m. the day after your examination. The link remains active for 30 days. You can access, view, download and share it electronically (via online storage). If you need the imaging material sooner or are not sure you can manage the online access and download, you may request it on a CD or pendrive for an additional fee.
- The written radiological specialist evaluation of the MRI examination will be sent by email to the patient by 20:00 on the third working day following the examination (the day of the examination is day 0). In certain cases, the reporting time may be extended if the radiologist needs to consult another specialist before issuing the report. The report is also uploaded to the EESZT.
- The radiological reporting of MRI examinations at the Centro-Medical Health Centre is carried out by Iconomix Ltd. via remote reporting (teleradiology). The teleradiology workflows take place in a regulated IT environment using teleradiology software that guarantees rapid and secure communication of health data. Around 100 radiologist specialists, in accordance with international standards, also perform so-called subspecialist reporting, which allows a high-level evaluation in a given field.
- The price of the examination does not include specialist consultation and information related to the report. The staff cannot provide any information about the result; this is the responsibility of the attending physician (referring specialist).
- For an additional fee, you can request the imaging material on a CD or pendrive. We cannot accept storage devices (CD, pendrive) brought by patients from outside (even in unopened packaging); for security reasons we do not connect such devices to our machines.
In the following cases, the MRI examination cannot be performed:
- if the patient has a pacemaker (even MRI-compatible models), certain types of metal heart valves.
- certain types of metal heart valve have been implanted
- if a metal clip was used during the treatment of a cerebral aneurysm
- In many other cases, the MRI examination may also be contraindicated; if you have any disease or previous surgery, please indicate this by phone when making the appointment.
There are two important aspects regarding the feasibility of the examination:
- the patient's weight (whether the table can support the patient): 120 kg is the weight limit!
- the maximum diameter of the chest and/or abdomen (whether the patient fits into the machine): this must be measured in a lying position, measuring the distance between the floor and the highest point of the chest and/or abdomen: 30 cm is the limit!
During the examination, it is possible for one (no more) relative to be present with the patient, allowing them to lie more calmly while the examination is in progress. Naturally, in this case the companion is also subject to the above rules and regulations; the companion is also required to complete a data sheet before entering the MRI room.
